Accessing Settings

Click the gear icon in the chat header to open settings.

Sound Notifications

Enable audio alerts for new messages:
  • Different sounds for teammate vs opponent messages
  • Disabled by default
To enable:
  1. Open Chat Settings
  2. Toggle Sound Notifications on
  3. Choose sound preferences

Browser Notifications

Receive notifications even when not on the page:
  • Requires browser permission
  • Disabled by default
To enable:
  1. Open Chat Settings
  2. Toggle Browser Notifications on
  3. Grant permission when prompted
If you previously blocked notifications, you’ll need to enable them in your browser settings.

If blocked, instructions appear in Chat Settings explaining how to:
  1. Open browser settings
  2. Find site permissions
  3. Allow notifications for TeamBattles

Unread Badge

  • Shows count of unread messages across all rooms
  • Appears on the chat button
  • Resets when you open a room

Position & Size (Desktop)

Your floating chat window preferences:
  • Position on screen
  • Window size
These are saved in your browser’s local storage.
Clearing browser data will reset chat preferences. Settings are device-specific and not synced.

Troubleshooting

“I’m not receiving notifications”
  • Check if sounds and browser notifications are enabled in Chat Settings
  • For browser notifications, grant permission when prompted
  • If blocked, check browser settings
“My chat position/size isn’t saved”
  • Settings are stored in local storage
  • Clearing browser data resets them
  • Settings are device-specific, not synced
“I can’t upload images”
  • Your team may have reached the 10 image limit
  • Check that images are under 2 MB
  • Try different formats (JPG, PNG, WebP)
